Start the New Year in Ancient Athens

Spend time exploring unforgettable sites, relics & monuments in historic Athens — including the famed Acropolis! — then ring in 2020 with family, friends & fellow DreamTrippers.

About Your Trip

Welcome 2020 and make awesome memories with your loved ones in Athens, Greece — a city that goes all out during the holidays! Whether you go to an epic party, hit one of the free concerts downtown, or watch the fireworks from Lycabettus Hill, you're sure to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy as you celebrate the coming year.

But first, grab your camera and get ready to snap remarkable shots as you embark on a panoramic sightseeing bus tour across this remarkable city! Your adventure begins at the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Continue to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, built in the 5th century B.C. to honor the Greek ruler of gods and sky. Finally, you’ll visit the Parthenon and Acropolis of Athens, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

On New Year's Eve, a full day of leisure, you can get out and explore as much — or as little — as you wish. Follow in the footsteps of Athenians before you as you take to the streets of this ancient city. Head to the Pedion Areos public park, where you can stroll in its peaceful setting, admire the Statue of King Constantine I and then set off to other nearby destinations. If you'd rather, simply rest up for an evening of fun celebrations ahead!

What we love:

• Athens was named after the goddess of wisdom and courage, Athena. It’s the birthplace of Plato and, in the past, children were expected to learn to play the lyre and study the works of Homer.
• While you’re in town, why not try souvlakia, a classic — and popular — fast food in Athens? It consists of diced meat and vegetables roasted on a skewer to grab ‘n go, or wrapped in fresh pita bread to make a delicious gyro.
• Greece has cultivated the olive since ancient times and today is the world’s third-largest producer of the crop.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

With more than 4,000 years of monumental history under its belt, Athens is a city with a heritage few can match. Relics from its world-shaping era as ancient Greece’s greatest city-state include the Acropolis (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the extensive collections in the National Archaeological Museum. Modern-day Athens continues to wield influence as one of Europe’s biggest capitals. Millions of visitors are drawn yearly to Athens by its ancient architecture, commanding artifacts and fascinating mythology. Energetic nightlife is also a major attraction, as are the cuisine and culture. Hotel Check-in Requirements

By booking this DreamTrip I understand that the hotel may request a credit card upon check-in. The hotel may request the credit card in order to: a) place a monetary hold of US$50-200; or b) hold for incidental, security or other charges. I understand that any such request made by the hotel is outside of the control of Rovia and is strictly a hotel policy. Should I have questions concerning the hotel’s policy, I accept responsibility for contacting the hotel independent of Rovia.
