Not your typical chemistry class — this is an exciting vermouth-making experience that you’ll remember for a lifetime. On this adults-only DreamDay, prepare to be wowed as renowned vermouth master Fulvio Piccinino shares anecdotes, images and more to shed a light on the origins of this beloved spirit. You’ll also learn about its cultural impact — vermouth is, after all, essential to Turin’s pre-dinner rituals.
But first, you’ll be treated to a fully narrated tour of the Esperienza Vermouth “laboratory” as well as tastings of 3 superior vermouths. You’ll then be guided through the steps needed to blend your herbs, wine and sugars to craft your own red, white or amber vermouth. Northern Italy’s Turin is encircled by the Alps and set on the Po River, making the city as picturesque as it is culturally and historically important. Ancient street grids and ruins in the oldest parts of the city date to the 1st century BC when Turin was settled as a Roman colony. Though the city center was largely redesigned in the mid-15th century, most of its notable palazzos (palaces), piazzas (pubic squares) and giardini (gardens) were built later, between the 16th and 18th centuries. A chapel in Cathedral of St. John the Baptist houses one of the world’s most famous artifacts — and the city’s top tourist attraction — the Shroud of Turin, a linen cloth believed by many Christians to be the burial garment of Jesus Christ.
